Handy guide for restaurants in the area

Appalachia has long been known for its plentiful outdoor activities. As well as, beautiful mountain views, and Southern hospitality. But did you know that it is also a great region for dining? Some of the best restaurants in North Georgia are right around the corner from Ocoee Adventure Center. There are so many different mouth-watering and soul-satisfying places to eat in the vicinity. It can be hard to decide which restaurant to try first. Lucky for us, our friends at the Blue Ridge commerce center have created a handy guide for all the restaurants in the area. Many people ask every year so I’m going to give you a list of some OAC’s favorites!

Blue Ridge Dining

If you are starting in the Blue Ridge area, or traveling that way from the Ocoee River, check out Trailer Drive-In or Pete’s Place for breakfast. A fabulous farm to table lunch can be found at Harvest On Main. Wrap the day up with dinner and a beer at Chester Brunnenmeyer’s. But for a more polished environment try The Black Sheep a call.

Copperhill Dining

If you plan on staying local check out our guide favorites, Mexico Loco is great for authentic tastes from Guatemala and southern Mexico. El Rio for Mexican and Tasty Tex Mex, Habanero’s for Tex Mex light on spices, and The Copper Grill. These are all located in Copperhill TN. Just a few miles from our outpost.

Our more seasoned guides that travel Latin America prefer Mexico Loco for some real flavors and hand made tortillas. They also feature a great beer selection from Mexico as well as local craft beer. Local latinos love this place for the food and fellowship. The salsas are great and yes they are picante.

El Rio has great food and a wide selection sure to please most picky eaters. The grilled tacos are really great. This is a large airy restaurant with lots of space to relax. The salsas are good and come in a variety of spice levels. You can ask for mar picante if you dare!

Copper Grill is the place to try if you want something more americana. They have a nice beer selection and typical American pub chow and a nice porch out front. If you want a quick meal of try Kenny’s just down the street. Our guides do agree Kenny’s has the best hamburgers in town.

Some of our younger guides really like Habanero’s but the name is very misleading. This restaurant cooks food without many spices and it is quite bland by Mexican standards but is loved by many locals that cook similarly. The salsa and food here are far from picante. The store bought hot sauce on the table is not impressive.
